Secreti Haus Rottweilers has done a great deal of research and partnered with experienced breeders to ensure a strong breeding program. Since the 1990s we have been learning about Rottweiler care and ownership, attending breed shows, competing in dog sports, training to advanced levels, and traveling to Germany to learn from top Rottweiler breeders so that we could put together the best breeding program possible.

Genetics
In our opinion, the first step to a successful breeding program is finding a genetically correct female that passes on her best qualities to her offspring. We were extremely selective when choosing foundation bitch and picked lines that were proven to produce balanced temperaments that excelled in the show ring and the working field.

Our chosen female, Ally von Carpio, was the perfect combination of our wanted characteristics. We got her as a 19 month old, green dog that was strong and beautiful with a balanced temperament, high prey drive, high food drive, and necessary defensive drive. Ally began training for show and IPO; she was successful on the IPO field in Germany, earning a BH, IPO1, and ZTP. Ally has been extremely successful in the show ring, achieving multiple V1’s, Youth Siegerins, Siegerins, RKNA champion level, USRC Regional Siegerin, and V-rated at a Rottweiler Klub show in Germany. Health was just as important as show achievements when it came to selecting our foundation bitch and Ally was clear of genetic cardiovascular, elbow, and hip problems.

With Ally providing a strong genetic base, we jumped in to the world of Rottweiler breeding. Today, Secreti Haus Rottweilers ensures the quality of our breeding program by following a strict selection process and staying committed to perfecting our dogs to the breed standard of working dogs with excellent temperaments

Upbringing
The foundation of puppy-raising is done by the mother and litter-mates; they teach each other about pack structure, social interaction, and positive and negative association for good and bad behaviors. At Secreti Haus Rottweilers, we strive to raise balanced dogs so we have developed a puppy program that works with what the puppy learns from its litter-mates and mother, while also desensitizing to the environment, socializing, teaching independence, and building confidence.

The first nine weeks of our puppies’ lives are spent with their pack and spending time around children, adult strangers, adult dogs, and even lots of time alone. Our puppies are introduced to carpet, grass, snow (season permitting), concrete, slippery floors, stairs, and puppy obstacle courses. We also expose them to the sounds of cars, motorcycles, gunshots, televisions, radios, and loud children.

Secreti Haus puppies have multiple grooming sessions, including bathing, nail clipping, and ear cleaning. We get our puppies used to foot and belly rubs, flat collars, walking on a leash, playing ball, playing tug, food luring, and marker training. These first weeks in a puppy’s life are critical to setting the foundation for the next stages of life.

Once you take ownership of your new puppy, it is essential that you build a bond, establish a clearly defined hierarchy for the family pack, and continue to train according to the system that they have learned from birth. In order to establish good communication between you and your puppy, it is important to establish a professional training regimen.

We have found that the easiest way to create communication is to associate a value with a particular behavior; consistent application of this approach will give the dog a clear picture of what is expected, thus reducing — and optimally eliminating — conflict. Rottweilers are often handler-sensitive so focusing on value will build a strong bond based on trust. Once you and your dog have a line of communication established, we recommend that you implement a balanced training method: positive associations for correct behaviors and negative associations for unwanted behaviors.

Training sessions must always end on a positive note so that both dog and handler feel good about the learning experience. Using this method, goals can be reached by slowly increasing expectations each day. Just like any working dog, Rottweilers crave meaningful activity, they must be mentally and physically challenged in a way that creates success so that they can be properly engaged. This engagement gives way to a desire for a purpose which allows the dog to have a sense of satisfaction. This way of life is crucial to creating a balanced dog

Nutrition

Nutrition is a key element in developing a physically and mentally balanced dog. Beginning at four weeks of age, Secreti Haus puppies are introduced to our Anita's Pure Nutrition For Dogs balanced, natural, raw diets; after weaning, this raw diet will be their only source of food.

All of our dogs and puppies are given alkaline-filtered water with no chloride or other potentially harmful chemicals. We do not feed any commercial wet food or kibble. We believe that proper nutrition is the best way to prevent illness, allow the dog to thrive, and maximize its genetic potential.

Anita's Pure Nutrition For Dogs is an affiliate company of Maximum Canine Services that specializes in natural, raw dog food blends, natural treats, and performance supplements. Our raw food blends were designed and tested by an experienced canine nutritionist.
