Board & Train Program

Our board and train programs are completely customized to your needs. We offer daily and weekly programs from 1-8+ weeks depending on your goals; the more time we have with your dog the more prepared you and your dog will be to handle real life scenarios. Please remember that, regardless of the program you choose, the training will need to be maintained once your dog comes home for the results to stick!

About Board & Train Services

The board and train program at Maximum Canine provides you and your dog with the most comprehensive education. Your dog is assigned a “lead trainer” that will be responsible for:
• pushing progress
• communicating with owners
• addressing any concerns that may arise during the program

The benefit of this: the lead trainer will help guide other staff members in handling your dog so that your dog is handled in a way that best works for it as an individual.

Having a lead trainer also ensures that someone is responsible for your dog’s progress while being handled by other people so the transition back to you, the owner, is easier for your dog to generalize the new communication style being used.

Our staff takes the time to bond with each and every dog that comes through our board and train program so they can see the value of working with us. This means that your dog is brought out multiple times a day in situations with distraction levels that will help it succeed.

We will bring your dog to various outside locations such as:
• neighborhoods
• parks
• pet-friendly retail stores
• local villages

Doing this helps your dog understand that what we are teaching them does not just apply in a training room or one's house .

All of our board and train dogs are brought into group classes and used as distraction in private lessons as well, to help them learn to work under the distraction of different dogs in their space in a controlled manner.

Trainers will also help their owners find mental and physical outlets that both dog and owner enjoy to help the dog live a healthy and fulfilled lifestyle.

Our board and train program also comes with integration lessons (see below) that will be used to help owners understand and implement the new communication system that we have taught.

Depending on your dog’s specific customized board and train program, it may be introduced to activities such as:
• Dog Runner Treadmill sessions: the motorized Dog Runner treadmills in our facility are a great outlet for both mental and physical energy and help build confidence in your dog
• Basic agility: agility is a great way to build your dog’s confidence and see success interacting with different objects in the environment
• Scent work: sniffing to find food, a toy, or a trained odor is a great way to engage your dog’s natural instinct to sniff and hunt that will leave it physically and mentally fulfilled.

Board and Train Packages

After your dog has been evaluated, a recommendation is made for the perfect board and train service for him, or her. Again, each dog is given a customized training plan based on the needs of the individual dog, along with the needs of its owner. An owner’s expectations, and our assessment of the dog, will dictate not only the plan of action, but also the length of time we feel is best for your dog’s learning style and specific needs.

Our most popular boarding and training services are:

Our 4-week program is a great option for those looking for their dog to reach cognitive generalization in as many of their goals as possible; we understand that every family has different priorities for training so we always make a point to look at each situation and discuss with each family what they wish to accomplish during training. Cognitive generalization allows the dog to understand what the handler is asking in a variety of situations and under high levels of distraction.

Our 4-week program gives us the opportunity to spend valuable time in the beginning of the program building a bond and discovering a learning environment that works best for your individual dog so that the board and training process doesn’t need to be rushed. This provides the best outcome possible because the dog will be constantly challenged at a level that is appropriate for where it is in the training so that it feels the success of progression without becoming overwhelmed. This will also allow your trainer to start you and your dog in a recreational activity that you may be interested in and help lay a solid foundation upon which you can progress.

After the conclusion of your lessons, your trainer will evaluate your dog in order to determine eligibility for Lifetime Class.

Our 6-week board and train program works well for those looking for:
• their dog to be able to generalize as many of their goals as possible
• dogs that may take a bit longer to warm up and feel comfortable working
• dogs that have behaviors that need more intensive training to address

We understand that every family has different priorities for training so we always make it a point to look at each situation and discuss with each family what they wish to accomplish during training. Cognitive generalization allows a dog to understand what its handler is asking in a variety of situations as well as under high levels of distraction.

Our 6-week program gives us the opportunity to spend valuable time in the beginning of the program building a bond and discovering a learning environment that works best for your individual dog so that training is never rushed.

This is especially helpful with:
• nervous dogs
• dogs with behavioral issues

It allows us the ability to create an environment that allows us to form a bond before we work on adding expectations for appropriate behavior. This provides the best outcome possible because the dog will be constantly challenged at a level that is appropriate for where they are in the training so that they feel the success of progression without becoming overwhelmed. This will also allow your trainer to start you and your dog in a recreational activity that you may be interested in and help lay a solid foundation upon which you can progress.

After the conclusion of your lessons, your trainer will evaluate your dog in order to determine eligibility for Lifetime Class.

The more time we spend with your dog, the more successful your dog will be once back at home. We currently offer a few board and train options to choose from once your dog has been given its evaluation.

1 week: $1700 + tax
2 weeks: $3300 + tax
3 weeks: $4800 + tax
5 weeks: $7500 + tax

After the conclusion of your lessons, your trainer will evaluate your dog in order to determine eligibility for Lifetime Class.

Each of our board and train programs comes with several integration opportunities during which you will learn how to handle the dog the way we have trained it and we can help make sure the transition home is as seamless as possible. We also offer our Lifetime Class --with trainer approval-- to help keep skills sharp and answer any questions you may have as you transition your dog home; remember, training is an on-going process that will continue even after your dog comes home!
