Personal Protection Training

Protection dogs

Maximum K9 is proud to provide Executive Protection training which can help protect you and your family from home invasion and armed robbery. The most important thing to a successful protection dog is its temperament: the dog must be able to sense danger and respond accordingly, while remaining under control in public settings. Many of our clients are regular people that want a higher level of security; they want to have a reliable protector that is not a danger to themselves, their family, or the general public. Our protection dogs are still a loving family pet that is safe to have around your home.

All of our protection dogs go through a rigorous evaluation process that determines whether they have the natural character handle this type of intense training. The evaluation will test the dog’s drive, nerves, confidence, intelligence, dominance, and environmental soundness. We are very selective about which dogs can go through this program and strongly recommend you allow us to find you a dog of this caliber; we have a large network of breeders in the US and Europe. Many of our protection dogs are German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dutch Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, and Dobermans,; these are not the only dogs we will train and we must look at the individual dog’s characteristics. If you choose a Rottweiler, we have an in-house Rottweiler breeding program: Secreti Haus Rottweilers. This breeding program is designed to produce the necessary behavioral qualities for being a protective, loving member of the family.

From time to time, Maximum K9 will have green dogs—dogs that are untrained but show the correct temperament and characteristics—and dogs in various stages of protection and obedience training available for sale.

Temperament

The best protection dogs are calm and confident; even though Maximum K9 trainers are experts in aggression management, we will not train aggressive dogs for protection because their aggressive tendencies can be unpredictable and there is always the chance for a relapse. We take great pride in the fact that our protection dogs are friendly and well behaved.

Training

While protection training will not change a dog’s innate character, it does build confidence and develop a sense of awareness. It takes a great deal of confidence for the dog to engage with a threat. Training can range from a simple alert when somebody is at the door to stopping a mugger or intruder. A large part of training is teaching the handler the best way to responsibly manage the dog. Protection training will increase your dog’s physical fitness and allow the dog to have an outlet for its natural instincts; it will also help you communicate better with your canine friend and have a lot of fun working in various situations.
