Most of our clients are everyday people wanting a higher level of personal security. They want to know that they have a reliable protector by their side that is not a danger to themselves their family or
the general public. By having a well-trained protection dog in your home you can sleep in peace knowing that there is someone on guard 24/7 protecting you and your loved ones.

Family Protection Dogs: Family protection dogs trained at Maximum k-9 Services are ultimately the highest level of specialty service you can invest in to protect your family from any threat coming from any direction inside or outside your home.  Your dog is still the family pet that is sociable and safe animal to have around the home. As with all of our protection level dogs an initial assessment is required to determine if the dog has suitable genetic qualities to participate in this training.

Private Lessons for Protection Training: Private lessons for you and your dog are available by appointment only. Your dog and your ability will be assessed before training takes place. Once you understand what is involved in protection training, we can then decide at what level your dog is suitable to begin at.

Guard Dog Requirements:

  1. The dog must be at least 1 year old
  2. Be obedience trained. (If we didn't obedience train your dog we will have to evaluate the dog.)
  3. Must be up to date with the vaccines.

A Guard Dog’s Bite: Temperament

Good protection training doesn't change your dog's basic character; it will build his confidence and develop his natural sense of awareness. Protection training can range from a simple alert when someone is at the door, to stopping an intruder or mugger. Owners are also trained how to responsibly handle their protection trained dog. An evaluation of your dog must be performed to determine whether he / she is suitable for protection training.

A protection dog training course, the dog becomes more confident, as we play on its natural animal instincts. The dog also experiences improved health, increased physical fitness, and begins to understand you better, overall experiencing increased happiness.

You will better understand your dog will protect you (family), and feel comfortable leaving your home, car, business or valuables under the protection of your dog. Protection training will make for better communication with your canine friend, and you will have a fun working with your dog in a variety of settings.

The best protection dog is a confident, calm dog. We take pride in knowing that our personal protection dogs are some of the friendliest, best-behaved dogs you’ll ever encounter. When we train a dog for protection, we require that the dog always stands its ground and only moves toward the attacker if commanded to. This takes an exceptional amount of confidence on the dog's part, and a dog that’s afraid of an attacker will not perform effectively.

The distinction here is important. While our trainers are experts in aggression management, we can only rehabilitate aggressive pets, not train them as protection dogs, because aggressive tendencies can’t be completely eliminated from a dog's makeup. There’s always the possibility of a relapse, and there’s a good chance that they won’t be able to keep you safe anyway. Dog aggression is often rooted in fear and insecurity. Dogs that bite unpredictably are likely not trying to hurt anyone, but instead are trying to protect themselves and put an end to a stressful situation.

Here at Maximum K9 Service and Nutrition, we train dogs and people for many different reasons. We train difficult dogs to obey reliably off-leash, find solutions for the most extreme behavioral problems, and train dogs for all types of law enforcement and advanced security needs. Rehabilitation for over-aggressive and fearful dogs is considered our specialty. If your dog is a drop out from another training program or too extreme for the recommended veterinary behaviorist you are in the right place. We are here to prove that with proper knowledge, respect, and patience… no dog is untrainable.
